SHORT BIO:
Cavin Harper is Founder of the Christian Grandparenting Network, and currently serving as the Chief Operations Officer for CGN, as well as Executive Director of ElderQuest Ministries. He is an author (Courageous Grandparenting, A DIY GrandCamp Field Guide, Wayfinder, and Raising Your Grandchildren). He has also been a contributing author for the Legacy Coalition, Joni and Friends, and hosted a radio talk show called Not on Our Watch. You can hear him on his current podcast, Engaging the Generations.
He and his wife, Diane, created GrandCamps in 1998 currently operating in numerous locations in the US and Canada. He writes a weekly blog called Generations, travels as a speaker and presenter of his own Courageous Grandparenting seminars, Gospel Shaped Family Conferences and other conference events throughout the US and Canada.
Cavin and Diane were married in 1969, have two daughters and nine grandchildren. Their home is in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
LONG BIO:
A graduate of Baylor University (BBA), Cavin worked in the family business in Cheyenne, Wyoming for five years before heading off to Denver Seminary in 1975. During and after seminary he served as an associate pastor in Denver, Colorado for 17 years before leaving to operate Christ Haven Lodge (aka Pinecrest Lodge), a Christian retreat center owned and operated by his family west of Colorado Springs. While there he founded ElderQuest Ministries in 1997, later changing the name to the Christian Grandparenting Network.
Cavin now serves as a consultant to CGN speaking and President of ElderQuest Ministries where he continues to write about issues related to inter-generational mentoring and spiritual development topics. He also continues to offer his popular Courageous Grandparenting Seminars throughout the US and Canada both in live and digital platforms. He has partnered with Josh Mulvihill (author of Biblical Grandparenting) in hosting Gospel Shaped Family conferences for parents and grandparents. He also writes a weekly blog, and was formerly the host of a half hour radio broadcast called Not On Our Watch, and a podcast about grandparenting called Family Impact: Grandparents Making a Difference.
He has authored Wayfinder (a fictional novel), Courageous Grandparenting: Building a Legacy Worth Outliving You (new and revised edition), The DIY GrandCamp Field Guide, Living Your Will: A Practical Guide for Living Well, and Raising Your Grandchildren (Releasing in August 2020 with Bethany House). He has also authored several magazine articles and was a contributing author for Joni & Friends’ Real Families, Real Needs and the Legacy Coalition’s book, Equipping Grandparents.
He and his wife, Diane, created and conducted GrandCamps© for grandparents and grandchildren from 1998 to the present. The program is now being reproduced and operated qualified Directors in the US and Canada using materials and program concepts produced by CGN.
Cavin and Diane were married in 1969, have two married daughters and nine grandchildren. Their home is in Colorado Springs where they are both actively involved at Woodmen Valley Chapel.
